How To Find People to Water Ski and Wakeboard With

From About.com

Here's how to go about finding other people to go waterskiing and wakeboarding with. You may not have to own a boat after all.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Varies

Here's How:

  1. Post your search on the About.com Waterski / Wakeboard Forum in the "Looking for a Ski Buddy" folder. Post on any other forums and bulletin boards you may find as well.
  2. Go to waterskiing and wakeboarding tournaments. They are a great way to meet others who share your same interests.
  3. Join a local waterskiing club.
  4. Contact a local water ski school. They may be able to put you in touch with other skiers.
  5. Ask the folks who work at the marinas. They see who leaves the docks with ski equipment.
  6. Check out the folks at the boat launch ramps.
  7. Ask the people at near-by pro shops if they know of anyone who would be interested.
  8. Participate in waterskiing or wakeboarding online discussion lists.
  9. Post your search on buddyup.com, a service dedicated to making it easy for people to interact with each other, primarily through sport and recreational activities.

Tips:

  1. If you do not have a boat of your own, always offer to pitch in gas money.
  2. Try to get to know people a little before agreeing right away to go boating with them. They may end up being people who you would not normally hang out with.
